Job Description

Carpenter Overview This role focuses on building precise, high-quality molds for precast concrete using a variety of carpentry tools. You will interpret blueprints, make informed decisions on how best to construct each mold, and ensure that every finished product meets exact customer specifications. The position emphasizes craftsmanship and accuracy over speed, and requires basic data entry to track work in a shared online document. The typical schedule will be 7Am-3:30PM with overtime available after the shift. Responsibilities Build precast concrete molds using carpentry tools and techniques Read and interpret blueprints to determine layout, dimensions, and build methods Independently plan and construct molds to meet customer specifications Measure and cut materials accurately (to 1/16") Safely operate company-provided saws and power tools (personal hand tools allowed per policy) Perform basic data entry to track mold details and progress (Google Docs) Build both small, quick-turn molds and large, complex molds Focus on quality craftsmanship over production volume Gather materials from both indoor workspaces and the outdoor yard Essential Skills 5+ years of carpentry experience Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings Excellent measuring and layout skills Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Experience with finish and general carpentry Comfortable with basic computer data entry Experience working in construction environments Preferred Qualifications Precast concrete mold-building experience Experience in drywall, framing, or rough carpentry Commercial construction experience Proficiency with hand and power tools Trim work, cabinetry, or millwork experience New construction experience Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place primarily indoors in a carpentry and production environment where molds are built and finished. There is also an outdoor yard area that you may visit to retrieve materials and stock as needed. The indoor workspace can be dusty and noisy due to sawdust, sanding, grinding, and other fabrication activities, so you should be comfortable working in an active shop setting with appropriate safety practices and protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
