Description Indiana Masonic Home Compass Park is seeking to expand our Plant Operations Team. Located in Franklin, Indiana, Compass Park is a beautiful 320-acre community in the heart of Johnson County, just minutes from Indianapolis. Our campus is known for its scenic landscape, featuring mature trees, winding footpaths, and a vibrant atmosphere throughout all seasons. Job Summary The Carpenter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and constructing both structural and non-structural elements within the nursing facility. This role helps ensure a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing high-quality carpentry work in compliance with safety regulations and healthcare standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform general carpentry work, including the repair and installation of doors, cabinets, handrails, flooring, drywall, and trim Maintain and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment used by residents and staff Construct and modify structures to meet accessibility standards (e.g., ADA compliance) Conduct routine inspections to identify repair needs and potential safety hazards Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders Assist with remodeling projects, room renovations, and space modifications Install safety features such as grab bars, wall guards, and protective barriers Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas during and after projects Collaborate with maintenance, nursing, and administrative staff to minimize disruptions to resident care Follow infection control procedures when working in resident areas Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards Essential Elements / Job Functions Assessment Physical Requirements Perform tasks requiring full-body movement, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and material handling Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate hand and power tools Frequent use of hands and arms for handling, installing, and positioning materials Stress Factors Responding to urgent repair needs that may impact resident safety or facility operations Working in occupied resident areas requiring professionalism, patience, and sensitivity Managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously Adapting to interruptions and shifting priorities Work Environment Work performed in a healthcare setting, including resident rooms, common areas, and maintenance spaces Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures Possible exposure to biohazards; strict adherence to infection control and safety procedures is required Daily interaction with residents, visitors, and staff Equipment Used Hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, levels, saws, etc.) Power tools (drills, circular saws, sanders, etc.) Measuring and layout tools Ladders and scaffolding Maintenance management systems for work orders Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Trade certification or carpentry apprenticeship preferred Minimum of 2-3 years of carpentry or maintenance experience, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and ADA requirements Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Benefits Work-life balance Weekly pay with Daily Pay options Discounted childcare for all employees Paid Time Off (PTO) available after 90 days of employment Comprehensive health, vision, and dental benefits (eligible the first day of the month following 60 days of employment Qualifications
