General Description:
The Carpenter I will perform basic Carpentry on constructions sites while learning new carpentry skills.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist carpenters with construction and remodeling projects
  • Perform safe operation of hand power tools, to include but limited to temporary generators, space heaters, ladders, table saws, routers, and sanding equipment.
  • Erect and disassembly of scaffolding.
  • Assists with demolition and debris disposal.
  • Familiarity in preparing material and reading blueprints.
  • Set up and take down of poly containment and drop sheets to accommodate work.
  • Construct basic wood and steel stud framing application.
  • Perform basic carpentry skills including cutting and installing wood framing, trim, baseboard, casing, doors, frames, and sheathing.
  • Secure exterior building materials roofing and siding when required.
  • Assists with the building, erection and securing of temporary or permanent partitions using a variety of building materials.
  • Begin to understand thermal and moisture (division 7).
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety rules to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment as determined by the Master Carpenter or Superintendent.
  • Accurately record and report work hours to supervisor or office in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean work site at all times.
Education, Experience and Knowledge Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Minimum 1-4 years' experience
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a demanding environment
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Satisfactory criminal and driver's record check.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Standing 7 or more hours/day
  • Walking 7 or more hours/day
  • Lifting 25-50 lbs. w/ good body mechanics
