Charles, MO Full-Time | Competitive Pay Based on Experience We're looking for a detail-oriented deck builder who takes pride in their work, leads by example, and keeps a positive, professional, fun jobsite. Sustainable Outdoors builds high-quality custom decks and outdoor living spaces. We're looking for an experienced carpenter who can lead a small crew, stay organized, and take ownership of jobsite execution—while helping create a productive, positive, and fun work environment. What You'll Do Lead construction of custom decks and outdoor structures Oversee layout, framing, decking, stairs, and railing installation Direct a small crew and keep projects moving efficiently Read plans, verify measurements, and ensure accuracy Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and professional Communicate clearly with ownership on progress and needs Solve problems in the field with a calm, solution-focused approach Craftsmanship Expectations Clean, consistent decking layouts (straight lines, proper spacing, picture framing) Tight, professional fascia, riser, and trim work Railings installed straight, aligned, and solid Strong attention to detail from framing through finish Final product should reflect precision and pride, not just "good enough" What We're Looking For Strong experience in deck construction Ability to lead and work alongside a small crew High attention to detail and pride in workmanship Organized, dependable, and consistent Positive attitude and ability to stay level-headed on the jobsite Willingness to work additional hours when needed to meet deadlines Professional and respectful when working on customers' homes Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Non-Negotiables Shows up on time, every day, ready to lead (coffee already drank) Keeps the jobsite organized and running smoothly (tools organized and protected) Builds work that is square, level, clean, and done right (no hammer dimples) Communicates clearly and professionally (PG language, correct nomenclature) Stays composed and works through challenges without frustration ("it's just work") Holds themselves and others accountable (PEMA

) Maintains a clean, professional jobsite out of respect for our clients (no smoking or tobacco use on-site) Preferred (Not Required) Preference will be given to candidates with formal carpentry schooling, union apprenticeship training, union continuing education hours, or other documented trade education.
