Lead Carpenter / Crew Lead, Jack-of-Most-Trades Sold Fast St. Louis, MO Job Details Full-time $28 - $34 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Profit sharing Company truck Paid holidays Health insurance Flexible spending account Paid time off Tools provided Qualifications Flooring installation Residential painting Outdoor work Power tools for woodworking Driver's License Frame carpentry Full Job Description My wife and I have extensive real estate experience and are launching a faith-based non-profit in South City. We currently have a house needing a large remodel, a church needing cosmetic updates, a school needing various odds/ends, and are on the hunt for a 4th project. This is a founding crew lead role. You'd be the skilled hands on site, running the remodels day-to-day, calling the shots on how the work gets done, and taking real ownership of what we put out. I'll be on site to support you, running for materials, picking up tools, holding the dumb end of the board, and learning from you as we go. The goal is to come out the other side of these first projects with a real partnership and to build a crew that grows from there. For the right person who proves skilled, dependable, and aligned with our mission across the first projects, there is a genuine opportunity for equity participation or profit-sharing on future remodels. We value your skill set immensely and want to help you build something you can fall back on/retire with, so you're not swinging a hammer in your 70s. We're not looking for an employee. We're looking for a long-term partner who wants to help build this thing from the ground up. What You'd Be Doing Running point on framing, structural repairs, and general remodeling Handling finish carpentry: trim, doors, windows, cabinetry, punch work Drywall installation, repair, finishing, and texture matching Flooring, painting, fixture installation, light plumbing/electrical, and the wide range of "everything else" that comes up Planning the day's work, sequencing tasks, and keeping projects moving Identifying materials and tools needed, with me handling pickup and procurement Training me on the trades as we go. I'll be a willing and able set of extra hands Maintaining a clean, safe, organized job site Owning quality, timelines, and the integrity of the finished work What We're Looking For A seasoned generalist, strong in framing, remodeling, trim, drywall, and the broader range of residential construction Able to walk onto a site, scope the work, and run it without hand-holding Comfortable directing a less-experienced helper and patient enough to teach Reads plans, takes accurate measurements, and executes with precision Familiar with residential building codes Self-motivated, dependable, honest. The kind of person whose handshake means something Supportive of and aligned with our faith-based mission Owns basic tools Valid driver's license and clean driving record Able to pass a background check (Grace for past shortcomings) Physical Requirements Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 75 pounds regularly Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach overhead for extended periods Climb and work safely from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces Navigate stairs, uneven terrain, debris, and active construction environments Use hand tools, power tools, and specialty equipment safely throughout the day Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Maintain the stamina, mobility, balance, and manual dexterity required for full-day physical work Reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals where required by law Compensation & Opportunity Starting at $28 to $34/hour based on experience , with room to go higher for the right fit Paid time off and paid holidays Health insurance contribution (QSEHRA) Mileage and tool allowance, or a company truck A real path to equity participation or profit-sharing on future remodels for the right long-term fit, after we've built trust over the first few remodels together Steady work across multiple active projects, no slow weeks while we ramp up Ground-floor opportunity to help shape how this ministry and its build operation grow Why This Role Our goal is to love people in practical ways like Jesus through housing, feeding programs, and more. We are not landlords looking to cut corners or flippers looking to do as little work as possible. Our remodels will be either kept and used to fund future outreach or sold to fund current outreach opportunities. If you live in or love South City, I believe this will be extremely rewarding. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'd love to meet with you and one of our board members.
