Primary responsibilities include performing skilled carpentry work in support of campus maintenance, repair, and remodeling projects. This position is responsible for general building maintenance, painting and finishing, minor roof repairs, and assisting with facility operations. The Carpenter works closely with Facilities Management staff, faculty, and external contractors to complete work orders, maintain campus standards, and support a safe and functional learning environment. Responsibilities include material coordination, maintaining work records, and responding to maintenance needs, including occasional emergency callbacks. Minimum Requirements Must support the mission, vision, and values of NDSCS Associate's degree in Building Construction Technology or related field OR 4 years of carpentry experience Knowledge of carpentry practices, materials, and tools Ability to perform general building maintenance and repair work Basic knowledge of painting and finishing techniques Ability to read and follow work orders, plans, and instructions Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks Good communication and customer service skills Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office/FAMIS or similar systems) Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience in commercial or institutional maintenance Experience with painting and finishing operations Experience with roof maintenance or building envelope repairs Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, lifts, or skid steers Familiarity with building codes and safety practicesSimilar remote jobs
