Field Manager/Senior Crew Leader Summary:
A job for a passionate, driven individual with a solid foundation in carpentry and construction skills, who has the desire to expand their knowledge and develop training and/or leadership skills to progress towards a Lead or Master Carpenter role. 3rd Generation (3GB) is searching for an individual who is energetic, punctual, attentive, has excellent listening skills, exceptional attention to detail and can effectively solve problems, to join our incredible team. Candidates to excel in this position have the opportunity to progress to Master or Lead Carpenter and further to Operations Management.
Attitude and Client Service:
  • Maintaining an effective communication channel with the client to manage customer expectations, anticipate issues and ensure consistent, positive engagement and long-term customer loyalty
  • Modelling respectful interactions, clear communication, collaboration and positivity

Organization, Awareness and Safety:
  • Coordinating and communicating job planning, advance material needs, timelines, deliveries, sub-contractor scope/performance, with daily updates to Management
  • Consistently following 3GB policies and expectations, including but not limited to:
P.I.C.O.K.
(Pay attention, Initiate, Clean, Organize, Keep Moving), time clock protocols, break policies, and phone/media usage
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area on every job, to 3GB standards and OSHA safety and operational regulations, along with any specific directives from Ownership
  • Performing tasks following all necessary, personal, safety standards, including but not limited to: appropriate operation and storage of tools and machinery, and proper use of safety equipment/PPE
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and fully stocked 3GB vehicle (if applicable)
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and finding solutions to complex problems
  • Anticipating and relaying equipment/materials/tools needed
  • Ensuring the job site, client's property, and all equipment/tools/materials are securely stored/cleaned in adherence to 3GB standards daily
  • Using 3GB systems effectively, including but not limited to:
Outlook, OneDrive, QuickBooks Workforce Knowledge and Technique:
In addition to a skill set that includes aptitude in all basic carpentry techniques: the ability to execute independently and in a non-standard situation the following:
  • Can read, understand and execute from basic plans
  • Can frame an addition
  • Can articulate the use of, and correctly install Jack and King studs
  • Can assemble a header correctly
  • Can measure, cut and install fascia and rake correctly
  • Can install standard siding
  • Can hang interior and exterior doors, with plumb, level and consistent reveals
  • Can measure and fabricate door slab to fit existing opening
  • Can understand and is able to jamb out and install bifold and sliding closet doors
  • Can install basic trim
  • Can install base and door casings with tight and glued miters
  • Can install windows and waterproofing, including sills and jambs
  • Can prep for tile install
  • Can install standard tile patterns
  • Can measure, cope and install baseboard
  • Can install shoe molding
  • Can install basic kitchen cabinetry
  • Can accurately build forms for cast in place steps/exposed form work
Leadership and Management:
  • Can communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Can communicate effectively and politely with clients
  • Escalates issues or obstacles, clearly and timely
  • Consistently hits deadlines (daily and/or weekly goals)
  • Suggests solutions to complex problems

Qualifications and Requirements:
At least 5 years construction/carpentry experience Technical carpentry skills include basic stud wall framing, sheathing and sub-floor plywood installation, drywall installation, interior/exterior door and window installation, basic trim, and cabinetry Ability to read, understand and fulfill basic blueprints, architectural plans etc. Sound knowledge of building codes and regulations Substantial understanding of OSHA construction regulations Excellent communication skills Strong math skills Ability to multi-task Ability to deal with a high-pressure work environment Desire to work collaboratively as part of a team
Tools:
Must own at a minimum: construction basics, laser level, and basic cordless pack out tools, e.g., impact gun, drill gun, reciprocating saw, circular saw
Pay:
$28.00
