Carpenter Upholstery Frame - Temporary Position 3-6 months

POSITION OBJECTIVE

As a woodworking expert, your primary goal will be to elevate the skills and capabilities of a fully operational woodworking shop that meets Jouffre New York's standards for productivity and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core responsibilities: Build wooden frames for sofas, chairs, headboards Read technical drawings and templates Cut, shape, and assemble timber using machines and hand tools Ensure structural strength and quality standards Collaborate with upholsterers and production team Other responsibilities : Demonstrate knowledge and mastery of various joinery techniques Apply wood veneers Work with solid wood and plywood Operate both hand tools and power tools Use modern woodworking machinery PROFILE Jouffre is seeking an experienced upholstery frame carpenter for our New York workshop, with strong expertise in woodworking and cabinetmaking, and proven experience in building frames intended for upholstery. This role is a temporary position 3-6 months. Depending on the workload, in a few months we might be able to consider a permanent position. We are looking for a self-sufficient, proactive individual with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a team player with a genuine ability to teach, share knowledge, and mentor others. Strong knowledge of all woodworking techniques Expertise in working with solid wood Ability to produce complex shapes Knowledge of wood species, their properties, and applications Fluency in English (required); Spanish is a plus
