Job Description

We are looking to have you join our team as a working project technician. No better way to learn a field but by being in the field with an experienced crew. You will be expected to learn through training materials, learn by trying the tasks, and be jointly responsible for project success. We invite you to consider joining our team. Heat Keepers is a building performance contractor serving both government and private markets. Building Performance involves improving the efficiency and function of new and existing buildings. Each market has specific priorities it demands but both receive our top effort in building envelope services and health/safety improvements. The building envelope is the air and thermal barriers that conserve thermal energy loss from inside to outside. Typical improvements are air-sealing, cellulose insulation, spray foam insulation, and small, but important health/safety measures. Our main market is the low to middle income residential demographic. Those households that can least afford to make long term energy efficiency investments. Your first role will be a helper with the crew, but will include managing schedule and work expectations with customers. You will work with the crew to make the improvements, document and digitize site conditions. Once you become a integrated part of the crew, you will learn more about building science and diagnostics, including blower door testing and assisted air-sealing. Depending on your talents you may be introduced to auditing and energy modeling, a specific role of quantifying what improvements are most cost effective and worthwhile for a customer to pursue. Other tracks are as a heat pump installer, or as a renovation carpenter We expect you to relocate to the area during the employment. Temporary housing (at the shop) is available to get started in. Being located in the heart of the Adirondack Park there is a world of adventure just outside of work. The company also owns equipment to enjoy the outdoors, canoe, kayak, boat, snowshoes, etc...
