Job Summary:
The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, installation, and repair of structures, fixtures, and frameworks in commercial building projects. This role involves working with a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and concrete, to ensure the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of commercial spaces. The Commercial Carpenter will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and other team members to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of commercial construction processes and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
    Framing and Structure Construction:
    Construct and install structural elements such as walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and window frames in commercial buildings.
      Interior & Exterior Installations:
      Install trim, molding, baseboards, cabinetry, and other finish carpentry elements in accordance with design specifications and blueprints.
        Blueprint Interpretation:
        Read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine dimensions, materials, and construction methods.
          Material Measurement and Cutting:
          Accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials such as wood, plywood, drywall, and other building components for various commercial projects.
            Layout & Framing:
            Prepare and layout the foundation, frames, and structures for new commercial buildings or renovations, ensuring all work is level, plumb, and square.
              Tool & Equipment Operation:
              Safely operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment, including saws, drills, sanders, and power tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
                Site Safety & Compliance:
                Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.
                  Repairs & Renovations:
                  Perform repairs and renovations to existing commercial structures, including but not limited to door replacements, drywall patching, and wood refinishing.
                    Collaboration:
                    Work closely with other team members, including subcontractors and laborers, to coordinate the timely completion of project tasks.
                      Job Site Maintenance:
                      Keep the worksite clean and organized by removing debris, storing tools and materials properly, and ensuring the site is safe for other workers.
                        Client Interaction:
                        Communicate with project managers, foremen, and clients to ensure project requirements are being met and resolve any concerns or issues as they arise.
                        Required Qualifications:
                          Proven Experience:
                          Minimum of 3 years of experience as a carpenter, with a strong portfolio of completed commercial projects.
                            Technical Skills:
                            Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, including framing, finishing, and installation.
                              Tool Proficiency:
                              Experience operating hand and power tools, including saws, drills, measuring instruments, and other carpentry equipment.
                                Physical Stamina:
                                Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 80 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks, such as bending, standing, and working in various environmental conditions.
                                  Safety Conscious:
                                  Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and the ability to apply them on the job site to ensure a safe working environment.

                                  Strong eye for detail, ensuring the quality and accuracy of all work performed.
                                    Communication Skills:
                                    Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
                                      Problem-Solving Skills:
                                      Ability to identify and resolve construction issues on the spot, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
                                      Preferred Qualifications:
                                      • Certification in carpentry or construction-related programs (e.g., NCCER, OSHA).
                                      • Experience with specialized carpentry tasks such as cabinet installation, custom woodwork, or acoustic installations.
                                      • Familiarity with project management or estimating software.
                                      • Previous experience working on commercial or large-scale construction projects.
                                      Work Environment:
                                      • This position involves working primarily on commercial construction job sites, often in an outdoor or indoor construction environment.
                                      • The role requires frequent lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
                                      • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hats, gloves, and hearing protection, is required.
