Position Description:
The Project Carpenter Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading construction and maintenance projects from start through closeout across multiple accounts. This is an on-site leadership role where you manage subcontractors and field associates while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents. You will also perform hands-on carpentry work as needed to support field execution and meet production deadlines.
Top Requirements:
5-10 years of carpentry experience 1-3 years leading/overseeing projects with scope exceeding $10K Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents Experience creating and managing look-ahead schedules; coordinating labor, subcontractors, materials, and equipment Strong field leadership skills: directing trades, resolving jobsite issues, enforcing quality and safety Hands-on carpentry experience including framing, drywall, ceilings/acoustical systems, doors/hardware, trim, and finishes Valid driver's license Basic understanding of project budgets, labor tracking, and schedule management Proficient with mobile devices and job documentation (daily reports, photos, logs, timesheets)
Key Responsibilities:
Lead projects from start to closeout: manage scope, schedule, and budget targets. Develop and maintain short-term and look-ahead schedules to support productivity. Supervise subcontractors and field associates; provide direction, resolve issues, and ensure compliance to quality/safety standards. Perform hands-on carpentry tasks as required, including: Wood or metal stud framing Drywall hanging and finishing Acoustic ceiling grid installation and acoustic ceiling pad installation Wood and hollow metal door and frame installation (including hardware such as locks, closers, panic devices) Wood trim installation (base, crown molding, chair rail, door trim) Cabinet/casework and countertop installation VCT and carpet tile flooring installation Specialty item installation (lockers, benches, toilet accessories, partitions) Monitor job costs, labor hours, and material usage; identify variances and escalate risks/corrective actions. Serve as primary on-site point of contact for project management and clients; maintain clear communication and support client satisfaction. Document daily activities, field changes, and job conditions; complete required reports and project documentation. Inspect completed work, manage punch lists, and support project closeout activities. Enforce jobsite safety and regulatory requirements; address unsafe conditions immediately.
