Job Title:
Finish Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on commercial finish carpentry, including the installation of cabinets, doors and door hardware, FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic), vinyl wall protection, wood blocking, and plywood sheathing across multiple job sites in the Columbus/Central Ohio area. You will support office remodels, apartment projects, and nursing home renovations by delivering high-quality, detailed finish work in a professional construction environment. Responsibilities Install cabinets, cabinetry components, and related hardware according to project specifications and drawings. Install doors and door hardware, ensuring proper alignment, operation, and finish quality. Perform finish carpentry tasks such as trim installation, casing, baseboards, and other detailed woodwork. Install FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) panels and vinyl wall protection systems with clean, accurate finishes. Install wood blocking and plywood sheathing to support cabinets, fixtures, and other building elements. Read and interpret construction plans, measurements, and specifications using a tape measure and other layout tools. Work on commercial construction projects including office remodels, apartments, and nursing home facilities. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and finishing carpentry materials. Perform rough carpentry and framing tasks as needed, including work with metal studs. Collaborate with site teams to complete tasks on schedule and maintain a clean, organized work area. Travel between multiple job sites in Sunbury, Westerville, and Downtown Columbus as project needs require. Follow all site safety procedures and company policies while working on active construction sites. Essential Skills Commercial construction experience, particularly on office, apartment, and healthcare projects. At least 2 years of carpentry experience in a construction environment. At least 1 year of experience specifically in finish carpentry. Proficiency in installing doors, door hardware, and trim with a high level of detail and accuracy. Experience installing cabinets and cabinetry hardware in commercial settings. Ability to install FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) and vinyl wall protection systems. Skill in rough carpentry, including framing and working with wood blocking and plywood sheathing. Experience with metal stud construction and new construction environments. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately and apply measurements in the field. Proficient use of hand tools and basic power tools related to carpentry and finish work. Capability to perform general labor tasks associated with construction and carpentry work. Reliability to work consistent weekday shifts and travel between multiple job sites as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience on commercial remodel projects such as offices, apartments, or nursing homes. Comfort working independently or as part of a small crew on active construction sites. Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, high-quality finish work. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, project teams, and other trades on site. Flexibility to adapt to different job sites, project types, and task assignments as needed. Work Environment You will work on active commercial construction sites across Columbus and Central Ohio, including locations in Sunbury, Westerville, and Downtown Columbus. Projects include office remodels, apartment buildings, and nursing home facilities, offering exposure to a variety of commercial environments. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday on 8-hour shifts, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with only occasional overtime required for specific jobs. The role is field-based and hands-on, involving regular use of carpentry tools, materials such as wood, plywood, FRP, and vinyl wall protection, and work in typical construction conditions including noise, dust, and variable temperatures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
