Historically, our team has functioned more as Project Managers, but our growth plan is to scale our abilities to self-perform critical scopes through the construction phase of our projects. Our Founders are dedicated to the growth of our firm and believe that positioning our team to self-perform the scopes of work will position us even better to be a leader residential and commercial construction. Position Overview Westbound Development is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Carpenter to help buld and lead our self-performing framing and foundation crew. This position is ideal for a skilled carpenter who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, leads by example and enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment. The Lead Carpenter will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: Leadership & Management Lead and mentor framing and foundation crew members. Establish daily work plans and assign tasks efficiently. Train apprentices and less experienced carpenters. Coordinate with Superintendents regarding schedules and necessary materials. Maintain a positive and accountable team culture with crew(s). Foundations & Concrete Read plans and perform foundation layouts. Build and install footing and stem wall forms. Set anchor bolts, hold-downs, embeds and hardware accurately. Install rebar and coordinate inspections. Prepare for and oversee concrete pours. Strip forms and prepare foundations for framing. Rough Carpentry & Framing Layout and framing of floors, walls, roof systems, shear walls, decks, and stairs. Install beams, posts, hangers and structural hardware. Verify dimensions, elevations and building tolerances. Identify and solve framing issues before they affect schedule and quality. Jobsite Operations Maintain safe and organized job site. Operate and maintain tools and equipment. Coordinate deliveries and material staging. Perform quality control inspections of work performed by crew. Ensure compliance with company standards and local building codes. Required Experience 5+ years of residential rough carpentry. 3+ years of light commercial rough carpentry. 2+ years of structural concrete experience. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Proven leadership experience supervising crews. Working knowledge of building codes and structural requirements. Ability to operate common carpentry and layout equipment. Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors all seasons. Preferred Experience Equipment operating experience (forklift, skid steer, gradall, etc) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Experience with multifamily construction. Fluent in Spanish Character Attributes Shows up early and sets a positive tone for the crew. Takes ownership of projects. Holds a high standard for quality.
