Job Description

Lead Framing & Exterior Finish Carpentry Position River Bluff Custom Homes is a growing, stable, family-owned and operated company seeking a Lead Framing and Exterior Finish Carpenter to join our team in the Ft. Pierre, South Dakota area . This is a leadership-level opportunity for someone who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, can lead by example, and wants to grow with a company that values hard work, professionalism, and doing things the right way. This position offers the opportunity to earn $100,000+ per year , along with a strong benefits package that includes: 2 weeks of paid time off per year 6 paid holidays Fully paid high-quality health insurance for the employee Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) Off most weekends Projects generally located within 5 hours of Ft. Pierre - typically less Per diem, paid driving time, and paid hotel accommodations for qualifying out-of-town work We are looking for someone who is willing to relocate to the Ft. Pierre, SD area and who is also willing to travel, stay overnight when needed, and work on the road as projects require. The right candidate will be dependable, hardworking, quality-focused, and capable of helping lead framing and exterior finish work on residential projects while maintaining high standards for workmanship, efficiency, and jobsite professionalism. Primary Responsibilities This position plays a key role in the completion and exterior finish of our homes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Building out dormers and roofs , including installation of cap trusses, sheathing, and roofing Building load-bearing walls under the home Installing sill plate Framing and finishing walkout and garden basement walls Installing walkout, garden basement, and egress windows Completing exterior finish work, primarily LP SmartSide/Lap siding , with occasional vinyl siding Assisting with crane setting homes and ensuring the home is properly aligned and assembled Lagging modules together and making homes weathertight Learning and setting up the rolling system used in combination with craning homes into place Occasionally building decks Operating equipment such as a telehandler and skid steer Leading a crew on-site while also being able to work independently on self-supervised projects Planning ahead and helping ensure projects stay organized, efficient, and on schedule Other duties as assigned Qualifications The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry experience, leadership ability, and a commitment to quality. Candidates should meet the following qualifications: • Safety is a top priority! Experience in framing and exterior finish carpentry Ability to lead a team and also work effectively on their own Strong planning and problem-solving skills Must have a valid Driver's License CDL is a plus Must be physically capable of manual labor and lifting at least 75 pounds Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions Willingness to travel and stay overnight for projects as needed Willingness to relocate to the Ft. Pierre, SD area Ability to read and understand blue prints Willingness to learn and use construction management software Schedule Expectations Busy Season - typically our teams work 5 - 12 hour days and then are off for the weekend . This position requires someone who is dependable, motivated, and willing to work hard during peak construction months.
