Carpenter Job Description This role supports a General Contractor with a wide range of carpentry tasks on active job sites. The carpenter assists with work such as handrail maintenance, building structural supports, and performing general site upkeep, including floor cleaning and trash removal when carpentry tasks are not required. Responsibilities Assist the General Contractor with day-to-day carpentry needs on the job site. Perform handrail maintenance and repairs to ensure safety and structural integrity. Build and install supports and other structural elements as directed. Carry out rough carpentry tasks, including framing and other structural work. Perform finish carpentry tasks as needed, using appropriate tools and techniques. Use hand tools, power tools, screw guns, and cordless saws safely and effectively. Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to complete precise cuts and installations. Work on elevated surfaces when required, following all fall protection procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping floors and removing trash. Follow all site safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment at all times. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with general construction and carpentry work. Proficiency in rough carpentry, including framing and structural work. Ability to perform finish carpentry tasks with attention to detail. Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and power tools. Ability to operate screw guns and cordless saws confidently and safely. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements. Comfort working at heights and on elevated surfaces. Strong awareness of safety practices on construction sites. Reliability and willingness to perform both carpentry and general labor tasks as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in commercial construction environments. Familiarity with using fall protection equipment such as safety harnesses. Ability to follow directions from a General Contractor and work well as part of a team. Work Environment Work takes place on active construction sites in both outdoor and covered indoor areas. Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including a Type 2 hard hat, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and fall protection harness when working at elevation. The environment can be noisy and busy, with varying weather conditions outdoors, and requires adherence to strict safety standards and site rules. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
