Job Title:
Carpenter Apprentice / Laborer Job Summary The Carpenter Apprentice / Laborer assists skilled carpenters in the renovation, remodeling, and rehabilitation of apartment units and common areas. This position performs demolition, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, cabinetry installation, basic plumbing, and general construction labor. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, willing to learn multiple trades, and capable of working in apartment units while maintaining quality workmanship and productivity. Candidates with HVAC experience is a plus. Responsibilities Perform selective demolition of walls, flooring, cabinetry, fixtures, doors, trim, and other building components. Remove debris and dispose of materials in designated containers. Protect adjacent surfaces and occupied areas from dust and damage. Prepare work areas for construction activities. Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, and materials. Assist with framing, blocking, and rough carpentry projects. Install doors, windows, trim, baseboards, casing, shelving, and other finish carpentry components. Measure, cut, and assemble building materials according to specifications. Assist in remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and common areas. Follow blueprints, work orders, and supervisor instructions. Hang, repair, tape, mud, sand, and finish drywall. Repair holes, cracks, water damage, and other wall defects. Prepare surfaces for painting and finishing. Texture walls and ceilings as required. Remove and dispose of existing flooring materials. Install laminate, vinyl, tile, carpet, and other flooring systems. Prepare subfloors and ensure proper leveling. Install transitions, trim, and finishing materials. Install and adjust kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Install countertops, hardware, shelving, and accessories. Assist with appliance installation and replacement. Ensure proper alignment and secure mounting of fixtures. Assist with installing and replacing sinks, faucets, toilets, disposals, and related fixtures. Perform basic plumbing repairs under supervision. Identify and report plumbing deficiencies or damage. Support maintenance and turnover projects as assigned. Operate hand tools and power tools safely. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Assist skilled carpenters, maintenance technicians, and project supervisors. Complete punch-list items and final quality inspections. Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion. Qualifications 1+ years of carpentry, construction, or remodeling experience preferred Familiarity with carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and general maintenance techniques. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment. Ability to read tape measures and perform basic construction math. Knowledge of jobsite safety procedures and PPE requirements. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work overhead for extended periods. Strong work ethic and reliability. Willingness to learn multiple construction trades. Attention to detail and quality workmanship. Ability to follow directions and work independently when assigned tasks. Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset. Effective communication skills. Ability to manage time and meet project deadlines. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely climb ladders and work at heights. High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to pass background screening and drug testing. Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
