Industrial Journeyman Formwork Carpenter Position Summary:
Industrial Journeyman Formwork Carpenters will construct, build, install, position, fabricate and dismantle wooden formwork and engineered formwork and shoring systems for concrete and grout placement according to sketches, blueprints, and/or company standards. May also be required to build wood framed structures, tie rebar, pour and finish concrete.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years Industrial Construction Experience
Minimum of 2 years Industrial Journeyman Formwork Carpentry Experience
Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings and plans
Knowledge of Industrial Carpentry hand tools, power tools and layout tools
Required to have all Carpentry hand tools and be experienced with related power tools
Knowledge of a variety of concrete formwork systems including job built wooden forms, handset panels and hardware, crane set panels and hardware, shoring systems and scaffolding.
Must be able to meet all physical demands and pre-employment conditions
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to work up to 7 days per week and the hours necessary in order to achieve the goals of the company and the project
Position Responsibilities:
Ensures all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner
Must comply with all company safety and personnel policies
Performs all work tasks with the highest level of quality
Performs job tasks efficiently to ensure that production remains on schedule
Ensures that any unsafe acts or conditions are reported to your immediate supervisor immediately to avoid accident or injury
Must work efficiently, productively and safely without error and consistently meet the productions goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager.
Examines blue prints, sketches, building plans and specifications to determine dimensions of structure and material required
Must have knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy construction
Performs daily inspection of each tool or piece of equipment that they operate to ensure that the tools and equipment are safe and fit for duty; prior to utilizing the equipment
Inspects, examines, selects and gathers materials and tools
Inspects all designated work areas for hazards and obstructions
Uses crane/rigging hand signals to rig, load, transport and unload material and/or equipment
Measures and marks cutting lines on material such as boards, timbers, or plywood
Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, plump bobs, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars, electric and pneumatic tools
Will layout, prepare, erect and assemble forms for pouring concrete and grout
Sets, braces and aligns forms in place with lumber, timbers, turnbuckles, clamps, wall ties, coil rods, etc. for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls
Verifies accuracy of structure with transit, tape measure, plumb bob, square and level.
Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment
May tie rebar as well as pour and finish concrete and grout
Installs and sets anchor bolts, templates and embed items
Will dismantle, stack and sort concrete formwork in a neat and orderly fashion
Will maintain housekeeping and an orderly site as work tasks are performed
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
May lead Jobsite Safety Analysis (JSA) meetings
Follows direction from supervisor
Will provide assistance to other crafts and supervision
Performs other duties as required

Former Mason Construction employee
Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical or trade school
National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification
Excavation Competent Person training for shoring
Surveying capabilities
Basic computer competency Physical demands:
Employee must maintain physical condition appropriate for the performance of their assigned duties.
Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, squat, sit, kneel, stand, walk and work on rough terrain, work at heights, lift overhead as well as push and pull.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
Employees will also be required to sit for long periods of time for training related to safety, quality, leadership, work practice, and site specific issues.
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time behind a computer.
Will talk and listen to communicate.
Must be able to hear, understand and follow instructions correctly
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
May be required to lift, carry and move up to 80 lbs.
Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Must maintain 3 point contact.

Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.

Due to the nature of most construction projects, the majority of the work will not be shielded from the impacts of weather. Weather will range from warm to extremely hot and usually humid. Occasional cool/cold days and rain. Dusty and muddy conditions may be frequent. At times work will be conducted on uneven terrain, at heights, and near or over water. Noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment, vehicles, materials and tools. People in the surrounding areas will be standing, walking, sitting, signaling, working and talking. Bells, horns, whistles and alarms may sound to alert personnel.
