General Construction (Residential, Commercial) Job Overview Company seeking a skilled Trim Carpenter II with a specialty in historic trim and carpentry. The ideal candidate combines advanced craftsmanship with a deep respect for preservation techniques. This role involves both field and mill shop work, building, installing, restoring, and repairing wood-based structures, fixtures, and finishes. With an in-house millwork shop, we can replicate intricate, historically accurate designs to match our restoration projects. If you believe buildings tell stories worth preserving, you'll fit right in. Key Responsibilities Organize materials, layouts, and daily work plans for efficient and safe jobsite operation. Oversee and perform rough and finish carpentry duties, ensuring all work is true, plumb, and square. Execute selective demolition, salvage, and replication of historic materials. Operate woodworking machinery and tools to fabricate custom elements, including windows, doors, cabinetry, moldings, and casework. Install cabinets, doors, trim, and architectural millwork using appropriate hardware, adhesives, and fastening methods. Apply epoxy, glazing compounds, fillers, and conservation materials for repair and restoration tasks. Maintain tools and equipment, assist trade coworkers, and mentor junior carpenters. Historic Carpentry & Restoration Specialty Restore, repair, and replicate historic trim, moldings, doors, sash, and architectural details. Identify original materials, joinery methods, and traditional construction techniques. Fabricate in-kind replacement components to match original design, profiles, and finishes. Work from drawings, field measurements, physical samples, and existing conditions. Uphold preservation standards by conserving original fabric whenever feasible. Apply reversible, conservation-minded repair methods. Additional Duties Assist in fabrication and installation involving light metal work, masonry anchoring, and concrete fastening. Adapt to varied project scopes including historic restoration, renovation, and new construction. Communicate professionally with coworkers, field professionals, clients, and the public. Maintain compliance with health and safety standards at all times. Required Qualifications Advanced carpentry and millwork knowledge, including shop and field experience. Strong ability to interpret blueprints and produce basic shop drawings. Ownership and maintenance of advanced hand and power tools. Proficiency in precise measurements and construction math. Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills. Able to work with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Walk, stand, climb stairs, or sit for extended periods. Use hands and arms for operation of tools and machinery. Maintain vision and hearing capabilities to safely perform work. Tolerate jobsite conditions including dust, fumes, vibration, loud noise, and weather variations.
