Rodbuster/Carpenter
Job Summary:
The Rodbuster / Concrete Carpenter is responsible for installing reinforcing steel (rebar) and building/assembling concrete formwork for structural concrete projects. This role is critical to ensuring the strength, alignment, and integrity of concrete structures in industrial and commercial construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Rebar (Rodbuster Duties) Place, tie, and secure rebar according to blueprints and engineering specifications Install reinforcing steel for foundations, slabs, columns, and walls Use hand tools, power tools, and rebar-tying equipment Position and secure steel bars, mesh, and cages Ensure proper spacing, alignment, and embedment Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layout plans Follow all safety procedures and OSHA regulations Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Work closely with supervisors, laborers, and other trades Keep work areas clean and organized Concrete Carpenter Duties Build, install, and dismantle concrete forms (wood or metal) Measure, cut, and assemble formwork to specified dimensions Install bracing and supports to maintain form integrity during pours Set anchor bolts, embeds, and other structural components Assist with concrete placement and finishing as needed Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layout plans Follow all safety procedures and OSHA regulations Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Work closely with supervisors, laborers, and other trades Keep work areas clean and organized
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (preferred) 2+ years of experience in rebar installation and/or concrete formwork Ability to read construction drawings and layouts Knowledge of concrete forming systems and rebar placement standards Experience with hand and power tools Craft tools for this position are required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating rough terrain forklifts or telehandlers OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience in industrial construction (plants, refineries, pipelines, or large-scale projects) Basic rigging knowledge or signal person training
Skills & Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good math skills for measurements and layout Physical strength and endurance Ability to work as part of a team Problem-solving skills in field conditions
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs regularly Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and tying rebar Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces Capable of working in extreme weather conditions
Work Environment:
Industrial and commercial construction sites Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and concrete materials Outdoor work in varying weather conditions May require overtime, weekends, and travel
