Your Day to Day Safety Ensure that JCC workers comply with safety requirements.
Train JCC workers in safety methods and procedures.
Maintain the work areas clear of hazards and debris.
Maintain equipment and tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Perform daily inspections of the equipment in use and coordinate with the General Foreman and the Warehouse to take appropriate action to maintain the equipment in safe, efficient operating condition. Work Planning and Direction Become acutely aware of the general flow and pace of the work as planned by the Concrete Project Manager/General Foreman.
Understand how your work assignment fits into the general flow of the work.
Study plans and specifications to ensure detailed knowledge of your current work assignment.
Plan manpower, materials, equipment, and tools needed to accomplish your specific work task.
Communicate your plans and needs with your General Foreman, Concrete Project Manager and appropriate departments (such as Human Resources and Warehouse Services) timely.
Monitor and update your work plan weekly and adjust as required.
Communicate your plans clearly and regularly with your crews.
Motivate crews to top performance.
Ensure that quality work is a top priority.
Plan ahead, communicate ahead and order ahead to avoid delays. Schedule Complete work timely and efficiently to maintain schedule and productivity expectations.
Leave your work and work areas well-organized and in a condition, that will contribute to the efficiency and success of others who follow you. Training and Evaluation Instruct and train workforce in proper, efficient, safe methods of construction.
Communicate your expectations in a clear and concise manner regularly.
Provide regular, appropriate constructive feedback (positive and negative) to encourage continued improvement in workforce performance.
Administer appropriate discipline (in an appropriate manner and setting) to employees by explaining what behavior is wrong and indicate expectations and methods for correction.
Perform effective craft worker evaluations in keeping with the Craft Evaluation Policy.
Delegate responsibilities to Lead Carpenters, when it is practical to do so, to help expand their knowledge and abilities.
Seek input and ideas for improvement from crew members. Human Relations Support and promote the JCC philosophy and formula.
Demonstrate and promote a positive "can do" attitude.
Ensure that JCC's human resource policies are adhered to. Listen to employees with respect and patience to appropriately deal with their problems and concerns.
Confer with your General Foreman, Concrete Project Manager and Human Resources concerning complaints and grievances from the work force.
Respond to and resolve conflicts quickly and fairly.
Treat others as you would like to be treated. Paperwork Complete timecards accurately and timely.
Contribute information as requested to complete an accurate and timely daily report.
Report work quantities in place daily. How You Contribute Understanding basic construction concepts and methods.
Demonstrating high level abilities in the activities of the craft workers being supervised.
Understanding the basics of schedules and scheduling methods.
Exercising good basic mathematical ability.
Exercising good verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrating organizational and supervisory skills.
Maintaining a high level of self-motivation.
Maintaining a thorough knowledge of reading and interpreting plans and specification.
Demonstrating the ability to train and motivate craft workers.
Understanding Jacobsen's safety policy and procedures and having a basic knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
Demonstrating commitment to project safety.
Exercising excellent problem identification and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrating the ability to set appropriate goals and objectives and obtain desired results.
Maintaining a basic knowledge of survey instruments for layout of work.
Demonstrating the ability to draw detail sketches (including formwork details) Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum 1 year of previous experience as a Carpenter Foreman with another employer OR Minimum 6 months experience with satisfactory performance as a Lead Carpenter with Jacobsen Construction
