The standard here is high, and we're looking for a journeyman-level carpenter who holds themselves to the same standard. Job Summary This is not a new-construction framing position. We're looking for a seasoned journeyman carpenter with deep experience in residential remodeling and replacement work, someone who understands the complexity of working on existing structures, coordinating across trades, and delivering finished-quality results on projects where the details matter as much as the structure itself. You'll work across a wide range of exterior residential scopes. What you will bring is the skill, judgment, and attention to detail to execute at a high level. Duties Deck framing from the ground up, including stairs, landings, and complex geometry, with and without formal blueprints depending on project scope Overhang and outdoor structure framing, including gable, hip, and lean-to roof systems, free-standing, roof tie-in, and ledgered configurations Post and beam installation, including large-span glulam beams and steel post setting Structural framing repair on residential replacement projects: dry rot remediation and replacement of wall studs, floor plates, rim boards, ledger boards, headers, and related framing elements Finished carpentry and exterior detail work executed with precision including decking and fascia installation, railing systems of varying types, and stair details where fit and finish are visible and must be right Framing of new window and door openings, and new construction framing on larger remodel and addition scopes Active collaboration with certified roofing and siding installers to coordinate on critical installation details, including: Rafter replacement and structural tie-ins, Fascia installation and trim integration, Window and door installations, Deck-to-structure integrations, Overhang and eave tie-ins, Flashing details and waterproofing transitions, Any other multi-trade touchpoints required to deliver a high-quality exterior installation Read and interpret blueprints and job scopes; work independently when drawings aren't available Uphold OSHA safety standards and Cutting Edge jobsite procedures at all times Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite from mobilization to wrap-up What We're Looking For The right candidate brings more than hours on the tools. They bring a trained eye, disciplined execution, and genuine investment in quality, especially on the details that other carpenters overlook. 5+ years of hands-on experience in residential remodeling and exterior replacement carpentry at the journeyman level Demonstrated proficiency across deck framing, structural repair, outdoor structures, and finished exterior carpentry Ability to work from blueprints or from field conditions alone, reading a structure, making sound decisions, and executing accurately Exceptional attention to detail; you hold yourself to a finish standard, not just a framing standard Comfortable and confident coordinating with other trades on shared scopes and critical details Self-directed and reliable; you manage your scope, flag issues early, and don't need constant supervision Team-oriented professional who communicates clearly and supports the crew around them Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites across the Portland / Vancouver metro Preferred Qualifications Completed apprenticeship or formal journeyman carpenter training or equivalent demonstrated expertise Experience with post and beam, glulam, or structural steel in residential applications Working knowledge of Oregon and Washington building codes, structural requirements, and inspection standards Familiarity with dry rot assessment and structural remediation on older PNW residential stock Experience working on multi-trade exterior remodel projects with roofing and siding crews What We Offer Competitive hourly pay commensurate with journeyman-level skill and experience Full-time, year-round work with consistent hours and a steady project pipeline A clear path to senior carpenter, lead, or foreman as you grow with us Company gear, branded apparel, and tool support Training, mentorship, and cross-trade development opportunities A team culture built on craftsmanship, accountability, and mutual respect Schedule & Location Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm standard schedule Jobsites across the greater Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA metro areas Ready to Build with a Team That Sets the Standard?
