Job Description

The Trim Carpenter at C&M Home Builders is responsible for the installation of interior and exterior finish carpentry on new residential construction projects. This role requires a skilled craftsperson who takes pride in precision and quality, delivering the finished details that define the look and feel of a completed home. The Trim Carpenter works closely with the Construction Manager and other trades to ensure all finish work meets company standards and homeowner expectations. Key Responsibilities Interior Finish Carpentry Install interior door units, including hanging doors, setting frames, and installing hardware. Measure, cut, and install baseboards, casing, crown molding, chair rail, and wainscoting. Build and install interior stair components including treads, risers, newel posts, balusters, and handrails. Install closet shelving systems, pantry units, and built-in cabinetry as required. Set and install window and door trim to tight tolerances with clean, professional joints. Exterior Finish Carpentry Install exterior doors, including entry doors, patio doors, and garage service doors. Apply exterior trim and decorative millwork per plan specifications. Install exterior trim and wrap components as required. Quality & Craftsmanship Perform all work to C&M Home Builders' quality standards and to the satisfaction of the Construction Manager. Maintain clean, organized work areas throughout the project. Identify and correct deficiencies before inspection or homeowner walk-through. Complete punch list and warranty carpentry items accurately and on time. Follow all job site safety rules, including proper use of PPE and power tools. Coordination & Communication Coordinate with the Construction Manager to stay on schedule with other trades. Communicate material needs and potential issues in a timely manner. Work professionally alongside other subcontractors on active job sites. Report any damage, defects, or safety hazards discovered during work. QualificationsRequired Experience in trim and finish carpentry, preferably in residential construction. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and finish nailers. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Strong measuring, layout, and cutting skills with attention to detail. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Preferred Technical Diploma in Residential Construction . Experience with custom millwork, coffered ceilings, or specialty trim details. OSHA 10 certification. Familiarity with production homebuilding schedules and workflows. Skills & Competencies High level of craftsmanship and pride in finished work quality. Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated. Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with other trades. Commitment to job site safety at all times. Physical Requirements This position requires sustained physical activity in an active construction environment. Candidates must be able to stand, kneel, bend, and work overhead for extended periods. Frequent lifting of up to 75 lbs is required. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather and site conditions. Use of ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work areas is routine.
