Job Title:
Carpenter Job Description This role is ideal for a skilled and detail-oriented carpenter who enjoys working on a wide range of commercial construction projects. You will perform framing, drywall, and finish carpentry while interpreting blueprints and specifications to deliver precise, high-quality work. The position requires a strong focus on craftsmanship, safety, and collaboration with other trades to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard. Responsibilities Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute carpentry tasks accurately. Measure, cut, and assemble wood and other materials for walls, floors, doors, windows, and fixtures on commercial projects. Install structures and fixtures such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, and hardware with a high level of precision and finish quality. Perform layout and framing for commercial buildings, ensuring structures are level, square, and built to specification. Carry out rough and finish carpentry tasks, including trim work and detailed finish carpentry. Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as tape measures safely and efficiently. Collaborate closely with project managers, foremen, and other trades to meet project timelines and coordinate work on-site. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies. Inspect and repair damaged frameworks, structures, and fixtures as needed to maintain integrity and appearance. Follow building codes and safety regulations throughout all phases of construction and remodeling work. Essential Skills Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial carpentry. Proficiency in framing, rough carpentry, and finish carpentry for commercial construction projects. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents. Strong skills using hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as tape measures. Solid understanding of building codes and safety regulations relevant to commercial construction. Capability to perform trim work and detailed finish carpentry to a high standard. Physical stamina and dexterity to work in various environments and on interior and exterior projects. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and coordinate with other trades on-site. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in both new commercial construction and remodeling environments. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe worksite in alignment with OSHA standards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship. Good communication skills for collaborating with project managers, foremen, and team members. Why Work Here? The work is hands-on and physically active, requiring regular movement, lifting, and working in various weather and site conditions. Dress expectations align with a typical construction setting, emphasizing safety gear and practical work attire suitable for jobsite conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
