Should be able to perform all applicable carpentry functions associated with residential construction. The position has an emphasis on performing trim carpentry functions, although a small amount of rough construction should be anticipated. Help us complete projects on time and within budget, while continuing our standard of quality. Experienced in framing and trimming, ability to read blueprints a must, and a working knowledge of custom home building preferred. Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level. Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses or buildings, using paint, hand tools, or paneling. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools. Cover subfloors with building paper to keep out moisture and lay hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base. Install rough door and window frames, subflooring, fixtures, or temporary supports in structures undergoing construction or repair. Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers. Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools. Qualifications Strong teamwork attitude and skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions while working independently when required Proven experience in construction site work Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools Strong knowledge of blueprint reading Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently on various job sites Excellent understanding of construction management principles including safety protocols and project coordination Our office and shop are located in Prairie du Sac, however, our crews work in the surrounding areas of Sauk Prairie, Lake Wisconsin, Middleton, Waunakee, Madison, Cross Plains, Black Earth.
