Concrete Finisher

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Concrete Finisher to join our dynamic team at Brittenum Construction Group. The concrete finisher is responsible for placing, finishing, and curbs (machine and hand-formed), manholes, inlet structures, and headwalls. This role ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, grade tolerances, and quality standards. Responsibilities Concrete Placement & Finishing Place, spread, and consolidate concrete using rakes, shovels, vibrators, and screeds Finish surfaces to specified tolerances using hand and power tools (trowels, floats, edgers, broom finishers) Set and maintain grade using string line, laser level, or site control points Perform flatwork finishing, including sidewalks, pads, aprons, and paving sections Execute curb finishing (stringless curb machine and hand-formed curb) Structures (Manholes, inlets, headwalls) Form, pour, and finish concrete for: Manholes (bases, benches, and tops), inlet boxes and throats, headwalls and wing walls Shape and finish channels (trickle channels/flow lines) to ensure proper drainage Set frames, grates, rings, and covers to the final grade Formwork & Prep Assist in setting forms for flatwork, curb, and structural concrete Verify form alignment, elevation, and stability before placement Apply form release agent and ensure proper reinforcement placement Quality Control Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and tolerances

Check:

line and grade accuracy, surface smoothness and finish quality, proper slope for drainage Identify and correct defects (honeycombing, scaling, cracking, low spots) Maintain clean joints, edges, and transitions Curing & Protection Apply curing compounds or implement wet curing methods Protect finished concrete from weather, damage, and contamination Monitor set times and finishing windows Safety Responsibilities Follow all company many safety policies and OSHA standards Use required PPE at all times Maintain safe work zones around pours, equipment, and traffic Communicate hazards to Foreman or Superintendent immediately Qualifications Experience 3+ years of concrete finishing experience in civil/sitework Proven experience with flatwork, curb, and drainage structures Experience with stringless curb machines preferred Skills & Knowledge Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grades Strong understanding of concrete behavior, set times, and finishing techniques Knowledge of drainage flow and structure shaping Ability to maintain production pace while meeting quality standards Detail-oriented with strong pride in workmanship Reliable and punctual Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment Commitment to safety and quality Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in varying weather conditions High endurance for physically demanding work The Brittenum Group is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
