Job Title:

Concrete Laborer Job Description The Concrete Laborer supports daily precast concrete production by preparing formwork, placing reinforcement, assisting with concrete placement and finishing, and safely handling materials and finished panels. This role works in a controlled plant environment, follows detailed drawings and build sheets, and contributes to a clean, safe, and efficient operation with opportunities for cross-training and growth. Responsibilities Prepare and set up formwork by cleaning and oiling forms, placing blockouts and inserts, and setting hardware according to drawings and build sheets. Cut, place, and tie rebar and mesh, ensuring correct positioning and secure installation of lifting anchors and connection hardware to specification. Assist with the concrete batching interface, place and vibrate concrete into forms, and perform basic finishing including troweling, floating, and edging while monitoring curing conditions. Strip and de-mold precast panels, perform basic patching and surface finishing, and prepare forms and equipment for the next pour. Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move panels and materials safely, and stage finished products and components in the yard under quality control direction. Use hand tools and basic carpentry techniques to support form building, adjustments, and repairs as needed for production. Measure materials and layouts accurately using a tape measure to 1/16 inch to ensure forms, rebar, and hardware meet specified dimensions. Maintain a clean, organized work area by following housekeeping and 5S practices, including tool organization, daily tool preventive maintenance, and adherence to standard work procedures. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, powered industrial truck (PIT) and crane/rigging rules, silica exposure controls, and personal protective equipment requirements in line with OSHA and industry best practices. Collaborate with team members and participate in daily huddles to review production goals, safety topics, and work assignments. At least 6 months of experience in construction, concrete, fabrication, or manufacturing. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure to 1/16 inch. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the workday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
