Job Description

We are looking for a successful candidate to hire for the laborer/finisher position.
Key Responsibilities Site Preparation:
Demo old sites, dig trenches, set up, and brace wooden or metal forms to hold concrete, and prepare subgrade.
Reinforcement Installation:
Position and tie rebar or steel mesh to strengthen concrete structures.
Pouring & Placing:
Signal truck drivers, guide chutes, and distribute wet concrete into forms.
Finishing:
Use tools like screeds, floats, and trowels to level, smooth, and finish surfaces.
Curing & Sealing:
Monitor curing times, apply curing compounds, and seal finished surfaces for protection.
Tool Handling:
Operate equipment such as saws, vibrators, and tampers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Requirements & Qualifications Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift heavy objects, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Experience:
Often an entry-level position; 1-3 years of experience is a plus, sometimes with potential for an apprenticeship.
Skills:
Basic math skills for measuring, ability to read blueprints is preferred.
Attributes:
Dependable, reliable, and able to work in diverse weather conditions. You will be required to excavate and prep subgrade, set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, monitor the curing of the concrete through the entire process to ensure a high-quality finish. You should be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather. The job duties include digging, raking, loading forms, driving stakes and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues, directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver, finishing concrete and site cleanup.

Designing and building the forms Demolition/excavation Operate small equipment Install rebar or other reinforcement Pouring and finishing concrete Mold expansion joints and edges Saw cutting Install floor systems, overlays, stain or colors Apply sealant, liquid membrane, or waterproofing to protect surfaces Monitor the quality of materials to ensure consistent mixes and a durable finish Other misc. construction and hardscape duties
Skills and Qualification:
Valid Drivers License High School Diploma or Equivalent Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the similar field Compensation range based on work ethic and experience Strong verbal and oral communication skills Attention to detail, task prioritization and time management Self motivated Able to perform a strenuous task with your hand Able to kneel, bend and lift heavy materials Able to measure accurately and read specifications Proficient with measurement system and tools Expertise in using tools to pour, shape, and spread concrete Physical fitness and stamina
  • Working conditions
  • May be expected to travel out of town to work on projects. May usually work irregular hours and often work early mornings and some weekends, and may also do shift work and be on call. Generally work longer hours in summer. Work in most weather conditions and in conditions that may be noisy, wet, cold, dirty and dusty.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
