Chipley, FL 32428 Your Specific Responsibilities:
Perform field and/or laboratory testing in accordance with the applicable Florida Sampling and testing Methods (FSTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) or American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) test methods. Report results precisely in the appropriate database. Keep all testing equipment calibrated and in good working order. Inspect materials in the field as requested or required during Construction, Maintenance or Design. Determine material compliance with Department contract and procedural documents. Inspect ongoing activities and documentation of materials related testing and inspection. Provide feedback and technical assistance to field personnel as appropriate. Document and report findings. Inspect component materials for compliance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications. Inspect completed material or component for compliance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications. Inspect facility and operation for compliance with their Quality Control (QC) plan and specification requirements. Document and report findings. Perform Independent Assurance evaluations as described in Department procedures and the Federal Aid Policy Guide. Perform these evaluations in an objective and professional manner. Document and report findings. Analyze materials data for contract and procedural compliance. Take timely action to correct any errors in the data. Actively facilitate the notification of stakeholders of failures or negative trends. Provide materials related technical support to customers as requested. Provide support in time to meet the customers' needs. Provide guidance and training to customers. Review Quality Control plans, Construction plans, specifications, procedures and any other documents necessary to execute the Department's mission. Coordinate the review of the Materials portion of the Contractor's QC plan. Provide clear comments as requested in time to be useful to the customer. Offer solutions when objecting to the approach that is proposed. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Engineering design, construction, production and/or operations
The concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of concrete Skills in: Using engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments Ability to: Operate a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and database application
Analyze and interpret engineering data

Pick up to 50 lbs. and move around uneven terrain without assistance. Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:
Must possess or obtain and maintain Concrete Field Technician Level 1.
Must pass or have passed Construction Math and Contract Plans Reading Self Study examinations.
Must have a valid class "E" Florida driver's license. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database applications.
Prior experience using engineering or manufacturing tools, equipment and/or instruments.
Prior experience with evaluating construction materials. This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following: three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation;
any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years;
a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and
a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years. Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
