Concrete Technician Job Description The Concrete Technician supports a variety of smaller foundation concrete pours, primarily for slabs up to 5,000 square feet. This role involves preparing sites for concrete work, assisting with form setting and layout, and performing a range of finishing tasks to deliver high-quality results on commercial and residential projects within a 60-mile radius of the Indianapolis 465 loop. Responsibilities Prepare job sites for smaller foundation concrete pours, including slabs up to 5,000 square feet. Set and secure forms for different areas in accordance with project layouts and specifications. Dig and prepare footers to required depth, width, and alignment. Assist with layout tasks to ensure accurate dimensions and placement of forms and concrete. Perform concrete finishing tasks such as hand troweling, broom finishing, edging, and cutting in joints. Use basic hand tools, impact/drill, tape measure, and tool belt safely and effectively throughout the workday. Support framing and related construction activities as needed, drawing on carpentry and framing experience. Work on a variety of commercial and residential projects, including institutional, medical, food processing, industrial, warehousing, and retail spaces. Follow safety guidelines and site rules at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area and care for tools and equipment. Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to complete projects on time and to quality standards. Adapt to changing site conditions, weather, and project priorities while maintaining a strong work ethic. Essential Skills 3-5 years of residential or commercial construction experience. 1-5 years of framing experience. Some exposure to concrete work, including basic understanding of pours and finishing. Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks and assist with framing and layout. Proficiency using basic hand tools, including hammers, levels, and related construction tools. Experience using an impact driver and drill on construction sites. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for layout and measurements. Capability to work with and maintain a tool belt and associated tools throughout the shift. Comfort working in both interior and exterior construction environments. Reliability to work scheduled 8-hour shifts with potential overtime as needed. Willingness and ability to travel within a 60-mile radius of the Indianapolis 465 loop. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10 certification is preferred. Experience with concrete finishing techniques such as troweling, broom finishing, edging, and cutting joints is highly beneficial. Experience in construction trades such as carpentry, finish carpentry, or metal stud framing is a plus. Ability to work on a variety of project types, including commercial, institutional, medical, food processing, industrial, warehousing, and retail spaces. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship. Ability to work effectively as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The Concrete Technician works in a mix of outdoor and indoor environments, including active construction sites and areas around finished products. The role often involves exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, dirt, and typical construction-site conditions, with an understanding that the work can be physically demanding and sometimes dirty. Projects span commercial buildings, institutional facilities, medical centers, food processing plants, industrial sites, warehouses, and retail spaces. Standard hours are Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts starting at 7:00 a.m., with paid lunch and overtime as needed. Travel is required within a 60-mile radius of the Indianapolis 465 loop. Appropriate construction attire and personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety and readiness for both indoor and outdoor tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
