This role involves site preparation, material handling, and assisting with the forming and finishing of concrete to ensure projects meet aesthetic and structural standards.

Primary Responsibilities Site Preparation:

Clear debris, excavate ground, and install/level base materials such as gravel, sand, or crushed stone.

Formwork Installation:

Set and secure wood or metal forms to precise elevations to ensure proper drainage and design alignment.

Concrete Placement:

Mix, pour, and spread concrete using rakes, shovels, and specialized hand tools.

Reinforcement:

Place and secure rebar, wire mesh, or fiber reinforcement according to engineering specifications.

Finishing Assistance:

Support lead finishers with screeding, bull floating, and the application of decorative textures, stamps, or broom finishes.

Hardscape Construction:

Assist in the installation of pavers, stone coping, retaining walls, and drainage systems.

Equipment Operation:

Safely operate power tools, plate compactors, jackhammers, and motorized equipment such as skid steers or mini excavators.

Physical Requirements Heavy Lifting:

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs (such as bags of concrete, wet mortar, or stone pavers) on a regular basis.

Mobility & Agility:

Ability to stand, walk, reach, and climb for extended periods. Frequent kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling are required for formwork and finishing tasks.

Manual Dexterity:

Sufficient hand-eye coordination to operate power tools, tie rebar, and use hand trowels with precision.

Environmental Endurance:

Ability to work a full shift (typically 8-10 hours) outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including high heat, humidity, rain, and cold.

Visual Acuity:

Ability to see and respond to site hazards, read measuring tools, and identify subtle differences in concrete texture and color.

Stamina:

Capacity to perform repetitive, high-intensity physical labor throughout the duration of the workweek.

Technical Skills & Qualifications Construction Experience:

Proven experience in concrete, masonry, or landscape construction.

Measurement Proficiency:

Ability to read a tape measure and understand basic slope/grade requirements.

Licensing:

Valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation to various job sites.
