Salaried Exempt Position Description:
Plan, forecast, lead, direct and coordinate work of Self-Perform Operations (SPO) staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on large or complex concrete projects. Oversee implementation of planned work for adherence to contracted scope for safety, schedule sequence, quality of work performed, and production planning and tracking. Supervise Trade labor in concrete or other areas of responsibility.Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
Oversee jobsite safety program in collaboration with EH&S team to support SPO team members and Trades to comply with standards and applicable safety codes and regulations. Oversee development and lead communication of site-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) for use in field. Foster workplace environment where all people demonstrate highest standards of care for each other using Turner's Active Caring philosophy. Thoroughly understand project scope, complexity and contract across assigned projects. Oversee team of Self-Perform Operations (SPO) Forepersons and multiple SPO Superintendents on large and complex concrete and general Trades SPO projects Develop and implement overall SPO concrete work schedules and integrate into main project schedule to facilitate, monitor, and maintain team productivity. Anticipate and identify critical path items and constraints impacting schedules to enable consistent and productive work progress. Understand, oversee, and validate construction layout and surveying plans and performance across assigned projects.- Validate and confirm resource management plan, communicate, and implement performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and SPO Trade staffing levels provided by SPO Superintendents.
- Collaborate with SPO Project Manager to oversee weekly, estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications. Manage installation of work in compliance with approved contract documents.
- Monitor and confirm accuracy of estimated quantities and manage procurement of materials.
- Assist with bidding work to review productivity and approach for implementing work.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 years of related experience performing as Superintendent managing self-perform work or relevant experience (e.g., Trades Foreperson, Surveyor, Project Engineer) for specialty scopes of work (e.g., concrete) Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field of study a plus, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Thorough understanding of multiple market segments of commercial construction industry and self-perform work In-depth Superintending knowledge experience and ability to quickly adopt Turner way/methodology Knowledge of building systems that interface with the structure (e.g., envelope, structural steel, MEP, excavation) Experience managing work as a specialty contractor focusing on concrete In-depth technical knowledge of concrete structure, tools, and equipment required by this trade In-depth knowledge and experience with various formwork systems In-depth knowledge and experience with reinforcing Thorough knowledge and understanding of general and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, construction means, methods, and materials, understanding of line and grade and survey methods Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques, and accounting principles Able to create and manage schedules that allow for consistent and productive crew Extensive knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and project Safety programs Proficient knowledge of building codes and compliance regulations Leadership experience to make decisions, direct, and build teams Diplomatic approach to problem solving, apply active listening to completely understand target audience needs and develop targeted solutions Strong network of labor sources (e.g., Union, Third-Party) and quality individual craft employees Excellent presentation delivery with professional verbal and written communication, able to tailor and deliver communications to stakeholders Advanced interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders across organizational levels, clients, Design teams, and Trades Able to apply critical business thinking to impact business planning, operations, financial performance, and risk Knowledgeable of continuous improvement concepts, methodology, practices, and tools Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications, construction scheduling software, and project management applications Travel as required per job assignmentPhysical Demands:
