Concrete Finisher Laborer Smooth Finishes Concrete Billings, MT Job Details Full-time $20 - $35 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid training Paid time off On-the-job training Tools provided Qualifications Cast-in-place concrete structures Rebar installation Outdoor work Safety regulations Personal protective equipment (PPE) adherence Driver's License Safety equipment Concrete saws Trowels Full Job Description Position Summary Performs skilled and general labor tasks in the placement, forming, and finishing of concrete for residential and commercial construction projects, including footings, foundations, flatwork, and monolithic slabs. Works under the direction of a lead finisher or foreman and alongside other crew members to complete work safely and to specification. Essential Job Duties Site Preparation & Layout Read and interpret job site plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine form placement, depth, and grade requirements Excavate, grade, and compact subgrade material to prepare for footing and slab installation Set and align concrete forms for footings, foundation walls, flatwork, and monolithic slabs to specified pitch and depth Install rebar, wire mesh, and other reinforcement materials as directed Place and secure vapor barriers, expansion joint material, and any embedded hardware prior to pours Concrete Placement Direct and signal concrete truck drivers and position chutes for accurate placement Use shovels, rakes, and screeds to spread and level freshly poured concrete within forms Operate and use internal and surface vibrators to consolidate concrete and eliminate voids Work efficiently to manage pours in varying weather conditions common to Montana, including wind, heat, and cold Finishing Strike off and screed concrete surfaces to proper grade and levelness Float, trowel, and finish concrete by hand and with power equipment to achieve specified texture (broom, smooth, exposed aggregate, etc.) Tool and cut control joints and expansion joints using edging tools, jointers, and saws Mold and finish edges on slabs, footings, and foundation walls Monitor concrete curing rates and apply curing compounds, sealers, or protective coverings as required Cleanup & General Labor Strip and clean forms after concrete has cured; stack and store forming materials properly Remove excess concrete, clean tools and equipment after each use Maintain a clean and organized job site in compliance with safety standards Assist other trades as directed and perform general site labor tasks Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. repeatedly throughout the workday Prolonged kneeling, bending, squatting, and working at ground level Work outdoors in all weather conditions typical of Billings, MT Requirements Prior experience in concrete forming and finishing preferred; willingness to learn considered Familiarity with hand tools including trowels, floats, screeds, edgers, and bull floats Knowledge of or ability to learn power trowel and concrete saw operation Understanding of PPE requirements and general construction site safety Valid driver's license preferred
