Job Description:

Basic function: S upervise and direct assigned crew in their activities to set and align to grade, forms for curb and gutter, sidewalks and other miscellaneous concrete structure in an efficient, safe and satisfactory way.

Job duties:

Perform all duties within the guidelines set forth in the policies and procedures manual. Create an atmosphere whereby subordinates are encouraged to improve their skills and maintain a high level of morale for themselves and other employees. See that crew starts working on time and endure that they work the number of hours for which they are paid. Assist and direct crew in the following areas: using equipment in a safe and proper manner improving job performance, controlling cost and quality of work, increasing productivity, improving communications housekeeping of project. Participate in the periodic evaluation of all assigned personnel, discussing their contributions to the company, their development and possible pay adjustments. Supervise and direct the activities of assigned personnel in the performance of their duties, directing and instructing them in the proper operation, technique, use and maintenance of equipment. See that all new personnel receive proper orientation to acquaint them with the company, policies safety requirements use and their job responsibilities. Develop a cooperative working relationship with all operators and project managers, superintendents, and other foremen. Foreman is also expected to cooperate and comply with the Human Resources and Risk Management departments being knowledgeable as to all aspects of EEO and safety. Foreman must comply with all requirements and insist upon compliance among all subordinates. Conduct a continuous evaluation of the following items: cost yields, material yields, plants and schedules; salaries, promotions, job assignments, equipment needs, personnel needs, on-the-job training program, and quality control relate any problems, changer or recommendations to operations manager. Ensure all work undertaken complies with all local laws and ordinances concerning construction and related activities. Maintain close contact and a good working relationship with the general public, engineers, inspectors, and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive a company image. Develop a courteous and considerate attitude of assigned personnel towards these groups. Perform equipment inspections, request maintenance and repair crews as needed. Make out all required daily reports, verify their correctness, and transmit promptly to the operations manager. Maintain a daily log recording important conversations and events which could be used for future reference. Knowledge Use of mathematics together with the use of drawings, specifying, charts and tables as well as the use of various types of measuring instruments. Experience O ver 1 year and up to 3 years to become familiar and proficient with different codes, all aspects of setting forms and finishing miscellaneous concrete structures, and related supervisory responsibilities.
