Job Title:

Concrete Finisher Job Description Join us as a Concrete Finisher specializing in heavy highway and roadway projects in the Tidewater region of Virginia, including Chesapeake, Newport News, and Norfolk. You will smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete on bridge decks, parapets, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters to specified textures. Responsibilities Signal concrete deliverer to position truck for efficient pouring. Move discharge chute to direct concrete into forms. Spread concrete into inaccessible sections with rake or shovel. Level concrete to specified depth and consistency using hand-held screed and floats. Smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete. Finish concrete surfaces and rub with abrasive stone for a refined finish. Remove rough or defective spots and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy. Mold expansion joints and edges. Sprinkle stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder for prescribed finish. Create rough concrete surface using broom. Mix cement using hoe or concrete-mixing machine. Utilize hand tools such as hoe, trowel, and tamper to repair old concrete surfaces. Essential Skills Concrete finishing experience, particularly with commercial projects. Experience with barrier walls, curbs, gutters, and pavement work in wet vs dry conditions. Ability to lift, kneel, and stand for extended periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications Two to four years of related experience and/or training in concrete finishing. Operator experience is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will start your day at the shop in Newport News and travel in company vehicles to various commercial and roadway work sites. The job involves standing, using your hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and frequent walking. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have specific vision abilities for close work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
