Right of Way / Line Clearance Job Statement Plans line clearance work for line clearance crews. Inspects completed work of contractor crews. Ensures we have positive customer relations regarding line clearance activities. Essential Duties Promotes positive company and personal image through positive customer relations, prompt service, and high quality work. Maintains current knowledge and understands all aspects of Huntsville Utilities Line Clearance Specifications and the Huntsville City Ordinance governing line clearance and assists with revisions thereof. Assists Line Clearance Supervisor with preparation of line clearance bid packages. Supports Supervision and Departmental Goals. Performs vegetation inspections, evaluations, and inventories along electric power lines and recommends corrective action. Develops work manifests for contract line clearance crews. Communicates with private property owners/public agencies regarding planned line clearance work. Performs audits on completed work submitted for payment by contract line clearance crews. Analyzes, investigates, and resolves causes of service interruptions. Responds to customer inquiries and requests to trim trees. Serves as the primary contact at the work site securing permission to cut or remove trees, answering questions, and addressing customer concerns. Resolves customer problems caused by the contract line clearance crews in a manner consistent with positive public relations. Documents all claims and 24-hour notices appropriate for review by management. Validates information on work manifests. Updates the Line Clearance Supervisor with the status of all current and pending line clearance issues. Assists in the preparation and presentation of information at community meetings. Uses computer and specialized software to prepare drawings, maps, reports, spreadsheets, letters, etc. Performs additional tasks as directed by the Line Clearance Supervisor.Job Requirements Education/Training/Certifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.Experience/Skills:
Minimum 3 years' experience in Line Clearance work around electrical facilities required.Equipment:
Pick-up truck, chain saws, laptop or mobile computing device with knowledge of current MS Office applications and current HU GIS program, two-way radio.Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
Patrol lines on foot over diverse landscape and terrain; regular exposure to extreme weather conditions.Other:
Strong problem solving abilities; attention to detail; valid Driver's License and good driving record; exceptional public relations and interpersonal skills; proficient verbal and written communications; subject to "on-call" and emergency duty.Physical Demands:
Patrol lines on-foot over diverse landscape; exposure to extreme weather. All employees in the safety sensitive positions are subject to periodic random drug and alcohol testing and testing resulting from reasonable suspicion.
