Job Description
Montoya Electric is hiring for two field positions supporting roadway lighting, traffic signalization, and public electrical infrastructure projects throughout the Polk County area. We are seeking dependable, hard-working team members with construction, CDL, equipment operation, or underground utility experience who are ready to work as part of a professional field crew.
OPEN POSITIONS
Lead Utility / Excavation Crew Member Ideal for candidates with field leadership, CDL, and equipment operation experience who can help coordinate daily work with crews, leadership, inspectors, and contractors. Utility Crew Support / Apprentice Ideal for motivated individuals who want to learn the trade from the ground up! Training is available for candidates with strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
JOB DUTIES
Excavation, trenching, conduit installation, and utility support work Operating or assisting with construction equipment and machinery Locating and safely working around underground utilities Hand digging when required due to utility conflicts or job conditions Building concrete forms and assisting with pours Loading, unloading, organizing, and tracking materials, tools, and equipment Assisting with roadway lighting, traffic signalization, and electrical infrastructure installation Maintaining accurate daily records of work performed, materials used, and time Communicating job progress, delays, safety concerns, and jobsite needs Maintaining a clean, safe, and productive work environment
REQUIREMENTS CDL
strongly preferred (Class A preferred; Class B considered) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Clean / insurable driving record Ability to lift 75 lbs unassisted when required Ability to perform physical labor in Florida heat, sun, rain, and changing jobsite conditions Familiarity with hand tools and power tools Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work well with others Self-motivated and able to remain productive without constant supervision Work is performed in active construction environments alongside multiple trades. Communication on jobsites is often direct, loud, and fast-paced. Applicants should be comfortable in physically and mentally demanding field conditions.

SCHEDULE
Monday-Thursday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM Fridays as needed Night work as needed based on project requirements, traffic control restrictions, or utility coordination. Employees must report to our Winter Haven / Auburndale area yard by 6:30 AM.
