Position Summary:
DOTCOM is seeking an experienced Underground Supervisor with strong knowledge of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and telecommunications construction. The ideal candidate will lead underground construction crews, oversee job site safety and productivity, and ensure all work meets DOTCOM's high standards for quality, compliance, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate underground construction crews performing HDD, trenching, conduit installation, and related telecom work Plan and organize daily operations to meet project timelines and customer expectations Ensure compliance with DOTCOM's safety policies, OSHA regulations, and local permitting requirements Read and interpret construction prints, utility maps, and work orders Conduct pre-job inspections, site assessments, and safety tailgate meetings Oversee drill operations including bore path, locates, and pullback procedures Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, and clients to report progress and resolve field issues Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members to ensure consistent performance and adherence to company standards Maintain accurate records of materials, equipment usage, and daily production
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in underground telecommunications construction required 2+ years of supervisory or crew lead experience preferred Strong working knowledge of HDD operations, trenching, plowing, and conduit installation Ability to read construction drawings, utility locates, and as-builts Experience with drill rigs, vacuum excavators, and locating systems (DigiTrak or Subsite) Valid driver's license required (CDL Class A preferred) Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions Commitment to DOTCOM's values:
