Construction Foreman

The Pipe Installation Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising underground utility installation crews on commercial and municipal projects. This role requires hands-on leadership, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and advanced knowledge of pipe installation, service connections, grading, and jobsite coordination. The Foreman is accountable for productivity, quality, safety, and adherence to project plans and schedules. Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Supervision Lead, train, and direct pipe installation crews in daily work activities Assign tasks, monitor performance, and maintain jobsite discipline Serve as the primary point of contact between the field crew and Superintendent/PM Promote teamwork, accountability, and high-quality workmanship Pipe & Utility Installation Install underground utilities including storm, sanitary sewer, water, and services Layout and set line and grade using lasers, levels, and plans Install pipe, structures, services, fittings, valves, hydrants, and appurtenances Ensure proper bedding, backfill, compaction, and testing per specifications Identify conflicts and coordinate solutions in the field Equipment Operation Operate excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, and compaction equipment Perform trenching, grading, pipe placement, and backfill operations Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently Safety & Compliance Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements Conduct daily job hazard assessments and safety briefings Ensure trench safety, shoring, and confined space procedures are followed Stop work and correct unsafe conditions immediately Quality Control & Productivity Ensure work meets project plans, specs, and inspection requirements Maintain production goals while controlling rework and waste Coordinate inspections with municipalities, engineers, and inspectors Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites Documentation & Communication Complete daily reports, timecards, job photos, and material tracking Communicate material needs, equipment issues, and schedule impacts Assist with as-built documentation and change order support Required Qualifications Minimum 5 + years experience in underground utility installation Prior experience as a Lead Man or Foreman preferred Strong knowledge of pipe installation, services, and underground construction methods Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications Proficient in operating heavy equipment Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with commercial and municipal underground utility projects GPS, laser, and grade control experience is a plus Ability to manage multiple crews or phases of work Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and operating equipment Willingness to work extended hours Performance Expectations Safe, efficient, and accurate installation of underground utilities Strong crew productivity and morale Minimal rework and inspection failures Consistent communication with management Professional representation of the company at all times

$23.00 - $30.00 per hour
