full-time
Job Description:
Earthwork Foreman - Construction Site Lead (PWS) PWS seeks a capable Earthwork Foreman to lead earthmoving and construction support activities for commercial and civil projects throughout North Dakota. This role blends hands-on field work with supervisory responsibilities: directing grading and excavation, supporting limited pipe work, maintaining detailed records, and representing PWS to Owners and General Contractors on site. The successful candidate will be an assertive problem-solver who keeps projects moving safely and on schedule. Responsibilities Lead daily field operations including excavation, placement of structural fill, grading, compaction, and other earthwork operations to meet project quality and schedule targets. Oversee and perform selective pipe installation tasks; verify proper trench preparation, bedding material, backfilling, compaction, and required testing to meet contract requirements. Review and interpret civil and structural drawings, detail notes, and revisions; communicate applicable changes to crew and adjust field work accordingly. Keep precise daily records including crew timekeeping, labor and equipment logs, production quantities, and other required documentation using digital tools and company reporting systems. Promote and enforce a strong safety culture: conduct morning safety briefings, ensure PPE and safe equipment use, and promptly address hazards or unsafe practices. Organize and assign crew tasks, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain workflow continuity, and adapt resource allocation to resolve delays. Act as site liaison for Owner and General Contractor staff, providing progress reports, documenting site issues, and facilitating timely resolution of field conflicts. Qualifications & Skills Five or more years of direct heavy civil or earthwork experience, with prior supervisory or foreman-level responsibilities preferred. Ability to read and apply civil/structural plans and perform basic layout and grade checks in the field. Proficiency with computer-based reporting, email communications, and basic project tracking tools. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills; ability to manage priorities across multiple crews and tasks. OSHA 10 or 30 and equipment operation certifications preferred; commitment to safe work practices essential. PWS offers a supportive work environment, competitive compensation, and room for professional growth for reliable candidates who demonstrate ownership of field operations and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders. Position available in North Dakota; travel across project sites will be required. recblid jsi0ndxo7tlp7uawqk3ai9x4dok4ne
