Job Description:
Utility Crew Foreman - Heavy Civil - Wilmington, NC Metric Geo are partnered with a reputable contractor to find an experienced Utility Crew Foreman to lead utility crews on heavy civil construction projects involving water, sewer, and stormwater installation. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating crews and equipment, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects stay on schedule. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong utility installation experience and the ability to effectively manage crews in the field. Responsibilities Lead and supervise utility crews performing water, sewer, and storm drainage installation Develop daily work plans and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and grades Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and OSHA standards Conduct daily safety meetings and monitor jobsite hazards Coordinate with project management to resolve field issues and maintain project schedules Complete and maintain daily reports, timesheets, and field documentation Monitor installation quality and hold crews accountable for workmanship standards Operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, and compactors as needed Identify unforeseen site conditions and communicate solutions proactively Train, mentor, and develop crew members Maintain equipment and ensure proper operational procedures are followed Qualifications Valid driver's license required Minimum 4 years of utility crew leadership experience Minimum 8 years of heavy equipment operation experience Strong knowledge of underground utility installation, grading, and site safety practices Ability to read construction plans and calculate grades for cuts and fills Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage demanding schedules and multiple priorities in the field OSHA and DOT safety knowledge preferred
