Position Summary:
Action is seeking a Field Supervisor•HVAC Residential Construction to help lead our residential HVAC construction field operations. This role is responsible for supervising HVAC rough-in, trim, startup, quality control, manpower coordination, jobsite readiness, field communication, and installation standards on residential construction projects. The Field Supervisor works closely with project managers, builders, foremen, installers, warehouse/purchasing, and other trade leaders to keep jobs moving safely, efficiently, and correctly. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands residential HVAC construction and can lead installers in the field, solve problems, improve production, and make sure work is completed to Action standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise daily HVAC residential construction field operations. Coordinate HVAC rough-in, trim, startup, and punch-list work across multiple residential construction projects. Lead, coach, and support HVAC installers and field crew members. Review jobsite readiness, plans, schedules, materials, manpower needs, and installation requirements. Work with project managers and builders to coordinate schedules, priorities, inspections, and jobsite access. Ensure crews have the information, materials, equipment, and direction needed to complete work efficiently. Monitor labor productivity, job progress, installation quality, and field performance. Identify production issues, material shortages, design conflicts, and schedule problems before they impact the job. Perform quality-control checks on HVAC installations, including ductwork, equipment, venting, refrigeration lines, drains, controls, and code-related requirements. Support inspection readiness and help resolve inspection corrections quickly. Train and mentor installers on proper installation methods, jobsite conduct, safety, and company standards. Communicate clearly with office staff, project managers, builders, inspectors, and field teams. Help reduce rework, callbacks, failed inspections, and avoidable job delays. Enforce safety expectations and promote clean, organized, professional jobsites. Support manpower planning and help assign crews based on project needs and employee skill level. Hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive, team-first leadership approach.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is an experienced residential HVAC construction leader who knows how to get work done through people. They understand HVAC installation, jobsite sequencing, builder expectations, inspections, and the importance of keeping jobs moving without sacrificing quality. This person should be organized, steady under pressure, direct but fair, and comfortable leading multiple crews across multiple jobsites. They should be able to solve problems in the field, communicate clearly with project managers and builders, and help develop the next generation of HVAC installers.
Required Qualifications:
Residential HVAC construction or HVAC installation experience. Strong understanding of HVAC rough-in, trim, startup, and installation practices. Ability to read and understand residential plans, layouts, schedules, and installation requirements. Ability to lead, train, and hold field employees accountable. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate multiple jobsites, crews, and priorities. Strong attention to quality, safety, and jobsite cleanliness. Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as a field supervisor, foreman, lead installer, or crew leader. Experience working with residential builders, inspectors, and construction schedules. EPA certification. Journeyman HVAC license or related certifications. Experience with duct layout, equipment startup, zoning, controls, ventilation, and code compliance. Experience using tablets, mobile apps, job management software, or digital plan systems.
Work Conditions & Requirements:
Regularly works on active residential construction sites in various stages of completion. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity. Routinely walks jobsites with uneven terrain, mud, dust, and construction debris. May be required to work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, rooftops, and elevated work areas. Frequently travels between multiple jobsites throughout the service area. Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, crouch, and crawl for extended periods. Ability to safety lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas. Ability to inspect installations in tight or hard-to-reach locations.
