Job Description

Pipe Foreman (Heavy Civil / Water & Wastewater) Cookeville, TN 38503 Full-time Full-time The Role We are looking for a gritty, hands-on Underground Pipe Foreman who knows how to move dirt, lay pipe, and lead a heavy civil construction crew safely. You will be the boots-on-the-ground leader responsible for deep trench excavations, shooting grade, and installing critical water and wastewater infrastructure. What You'll Do Run the
Crew:
Direct daily pipe-laying and trenching operations, keeping your crew productive, organized, and on schedule. Lay the
Pipe:
Lead the installation, repair, and leak-testing of underground utilities, including storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and water mains.
Line & Grade:
Set up and operate pipe lasers, transits, and levels to ensure precise alignment and exact grade on every stick of pipe.
Equipment Coordination:
Direct heavy equipment operators (excavators, loaders) using proper hand signals to safely manage trenching, bedding, and backfill operations.
Trench Safety:
Strictly enforce OSHA excavation standards. Oversee shoring, trench boxes, and daily site inspections to keep your crew safe in the dirt.
Field Reporting:
Track production quantities, material needs, and equipment conditions, turning in accurate daily field reports.
What You Need Experience:
5+ years of heavy civil construction experience, with a primary focus on deep underground utilities and pipe laying.
Leadership:
Proven track record running an underground crew as a Foreman or Lead Pipelayer.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read civil blueprints, shoot grade, and operate pipe lasers. OSHA Competent Person training for Trenching/Excavation is a major plus.
Physical Capability:
This is physical work. You must be able to lift up to 80 lbs, climb in and out of deep trenches, and work in all weather conditions.
Mobility:
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to active project sites across Tennessee.
