Position Description The Pipe Foreman is responsible for leading crews in the installation of underground wet utilities, including water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems across heavy civil and roadway projects. This role is hands-on and field-driven, requiring strong leadership, technical knowledge of pipe installation, and the ability to keep crews safe, productive, and on schedule. The Pipe Foreman oversees daily operations on the jobsite, coordinating labor, equipment, and materials to ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and company standards. Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise pipe crews performing installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems
Read and interpret plans, profiles, grades, and specifications to guide daily work activities
Coordinate with superintendents, operators, and other trades to maintain workflow and meet production goals
Ensure proper trench safety, shoring, benching, and OSHA compliance at all times
Oversee line and grade, ensuring pipe is installed to spec using lasers, levels, and grade stakes
Plan daily work activities, including crew assignments, equipment needs, and material staging
Monitor production and adjust workflow to stay on schedule and within budget
Inspect work to ensure quality standards are met and rework is minimized
Identify and resolve field issues quickly, including conflicts with existing utilities or site conditions
Maintain accurate daily reports, timekeeping, and production tracking
Order and track materials, ensuring crews have what they need without delays
Communicate clearly with the team to maintain a safe, efficient, and accountable work environment
Position Requirements To perform this role successfully, candidates must be able to carry out the essential duties of a Pipe Foreman in a safe and productive manner. The qualifications below represent the experience and skills needed for the position. Minimum 10 years of experience in underground wet utility installation (water, sewer, storm)
Minimum 5 years of experience leading crews as a Foreman or Lead
Strong hands-on experience installing:
Storm drain systems (RCP)
Waterlines
Sanitary sewer systems
Proven ability to read plans, shoot grade, and manage line & grade in the field
Solid understanding of trench safety and OSHA standards (OSHA 30 is a plus)
Experience working around and coordinating heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, trench boxes, etc.)
Ability to lead a crew, maintain production, and hold team members accountable
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project schedules
Candidates who can bring an established crew are highly preferred
