POSITION SCOPE
The Buoy Waterborne Foreman (often acting as a Marine Foreman, Mooring Master, or Tender Foreman) is responsible for leading crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of navigation buoys, mooring systems, and other waterborne infrastructure. This role requires a combination of hands-on maritime experience and leadership, with a strong focus on safety, equipment operation, and efficient execution of marine-based construction activities. Travel is required.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Lead and manage waterborne crews, providing direction, guidance, and supervision to ensure efficient and safe operations
Plan and organize buoy setting, drilling, and marine construction activities according to project specifications and environmental conditions
Oversee installation, inspection, and maintenance of buoys, anchors, chains, and mooring systems
Operate marine equipment such as cranes, winches, hoists, rigging systems, and support vessels as needed to complete work activities
Collaborate with project managers, customers, and engineers to interpret and implement plans, ensuring alignment with project goals
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, identifying maintenance needs and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations, including PPE, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), confined space, and hot work procedures
Maintain accurate timecards and other records of daily operations, including equipment usage, production, and project progress
Coordinate the delivery and allocation of materials, equipment, and personnel to optimize workflow and productivity
Assist in training crew members, promoting skill development and fostering a positive team environment
Troubleshoot operational issues and provide effective solutions in dynamic marine environments • Respond to and manage emergency situations while maintaining a safety-first mindset
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
3-5+ years of experience in marine construction, maritime operations, or a related field
Previous foreman or supervisory experience preferred
Experience with buoy installation, mooring systems, or marine rigging strongly preferred
Valid Driver's License required with clean motor vehicle record
TWIC Card required or ability to obtain one
Proficiency in operating marine equipment and rigging systems
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and a track record of promoting a safe work environment
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within project timelines
