Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY FDI
is seeking an experienced Foreman to support active and upcoming DHS/U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) construction contracts. The Foreman will lead field crews in daily construction operations across remote border region job sites in Texas and/or New Mexico. This position requires a proven leader who can manage people, equipment, and production schedules in demanding field conditions with minimal supervision. This is a project-based field position. Candidates must be available for extended field rotations and comfortable working in remote locations. Per diem is provided.RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct daily field operations for assigned crew including labor, equipment operators, and subcontractors. Supervise and execute earthwork and dirt operations including clearing, grubbing, grading, compaction, and subgrade preparation. Oversee excavation operations for structures, trenching, and utility installation including shoring and trench safety compliance. Direct concrete work including forming, placing, finishing, and curing for drainage structures, footings, pads, and related infrastructure. Manage underground utility installation including water, sewer, conduit, and drainage systems. Enforce all site safety requirements, OSHA standards, and project-specific safety plans; conduct daily toolbox talks. Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Manager on scheduling, production tracking, and material/equipment needs. Maintain accurate daily reports including crew counts, equipment hours, quantities installed, and work completed. Communicate and coordinate with CBP/government representatives and inspectors as required on federally contracted projects. Ensure quality of work meets contract specifications and owner requirements.REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years of field construction experience with at least 2 years in a foreman or crew lead role. Demonstrated experience in two or more of the following: excavation/earthwork, concrete, underground utilities, site grading and drainage. Must be a United States Citizen — required for DHS/CBP project access and federal background investigation. Must successfully pass a federal background check and obtain all required site access credentials prior to mobilization. Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grade stakes. Strong communication skills; ability to lead and motivate a crew in remote and high-pressure environments. Physically able to perform and oversee construction tasks in outdoor environments including extreme heat and rugged terrain. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; First Aid/CPR a plus.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience on federal, DHS, CBP, USACE, or other government construction contracts. Familiarity with border region terrain and remote site logistics in West Texas or southern New Mexico. Experience managing equipment-heavy operations including dozers, excavators, motor graders, and compaction equipment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
