Job Title:
Construction Laborer Job Description Aerotek is hiring immediately for a laborer! Join a small, family-oriented construction team as a Construction Laborer supporting a wide range of site work projects. This is a hands-on, entry-level opportunity where you receive on-the-job training and learn all required technical skills directly in the field. You assist with grading, trenching, material handling, and utility installations while working outdoors in all weather conditions and traveling to various job sites. This position is full time offering competitive pay and benefits! Responsibilities Support site work on a variety of construction projects, including commercial and residential locations. Hold and operate a laser level stick while heavy equipment operators grade the site. Shovel, dig, and perform trenching activities as directed to prepare and maintain work areas. Assist with crushing stone and moving materials around the job site safely and efficiently. Help with installing pipe and sewer lines under the direction of experienced team members. Follow directions from supervisors and equipment operators and complete assigned tasks promptly. Work safely and maintain awareness of surroundings on active outdoor construction sites. Travel independently to different job sites within the region, including areas as far south as Greenwich and as far north as Orange. Work effectively as part of a small crew that includes heavy equipment operators and other laborers. Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, being prepared to work, and consistently completing a full workday. Essential Skills Ability and willingness to perform physical labor such as shoveling, trenching, digging, and moving materials throughout the workday. Comfort working on outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions. Willingness to learn new tasks and technical skills directly on the job. Reliable work ethic with a strong sense of responsibility and follow-through. Ability to take direction and work well as part of a small construction crew. Access to a personal vehicle and willingness to drive independently to job sites, including locations as far south as Greenwich and as far north as Orange. Basic understanding of how an outdoor construction site operates, including general safety and workflow. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any prior construction or general labor experience is beneficial but not required. Any safety training such as an OSHA 10 certification is preferred. Experience with trenching, digging, and moving materials on job sites is a plus. Familiarity with outdoor construction environments and basic construction practices is advantageous. Demonstrated reliability and a strong desire to learn and grow within the construction field. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgeport, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
