In this role, you will be an essential part of our field operations, supporting various heavy equipment activities and ensuring safety and efficiency on site. The ideal candidate is energetic, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to complex projects involving excavation, utility installation, and infrastructure development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on skills in heavy machinery operation and utility work while working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation tools to assist with excavation, grading, and site preparation. Perform utility locating and cabling tasks, including fiber splicing and electrical work involving high voltage and low voltage systems. Use hand tools and power tools safely for construction tasks, welding, rigging, and mechanical repairs. Assist with climbing, rigging, and working at heights on utility poles or structures using appropriate safety procedures. Support the setup and operation of mechanical equipment including rigging for lifting heavy materials or machinery. Conduct routine inspections of equipment and work sites to ensure safety standards are maintained. Collaborate with team members on construction site activities, ensuring efficient workflow while adhering to safety protocols. Qualifications Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, or bucket trucks is highly preferred. Knowledge of electrical systems including high voltage and low voltage wiring; experience with fiber splicing is a plus. Familiarity with utility locating techniques and cabling installation procedures. Mechanical knowledge related to construction equipment maintenance and repairs. Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely in various conditions. Experience working on construction sites or in utility environments is desirable. Capable of climbing structures or ladders as needed; comfortable working at heights. Strong understanding of safety practices related to heavy equipment operation and electrical work.
