Job Description

Construction Technician -
Sunman, IN Status:
Non-Exempt |
Reports To:
OSP Engineering Manager We are seeking a hardworking Construction Technician to install, maintain, and repair essential communication and utility infrastructure. You will operate heavy machinery, perform cable splicing, and ensure all construction projects meet our high standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do:
Infrastructure Installation:
Safely install and replace communication and utility lines using maps and staking sheets.
Equipment Operation:
Drive and operate heavy machinery including trenchers, cable plows, backhoes, and skid loaders.
Utility Locating:
Identify and mark underground utilities both manually and electronically using One-Call color codes.
Team Leadership & Safety:
Mentor junior crew members, strictly adhere to safety protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work site.
Daily Reporting:
Complete accurate time sheets, expense reports, and CDL driving logs.
What You Need:
Experience:
2-5 years of relevant construction, cable installation, or utility experience.
Physical Strength:
Ability to frequently lift up to 130 lbs., climb ladders, and hand-dig ditches.
Licensing:
Valid driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain and the ability to comply with FMCSA regulations.
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, and troubleshooting equipment.
Availability:
Willingness to work non-standard hours, travel as needed, and respond to 24/7 emergencies.
