In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the quality, safety, and durability of construction materials used in a variety of building projects. Your expertise will help uphold industry standards by conducting precise tests, analyzing data, and supporting quality control processes on construction sites and in laboratory settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects while developing your skills in construction inspection and material analysis. Responsibilities Perform laboratory testing on construction materials such as concrete, masonry, and other building components to verify compliance with project specifications, ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, or LADOTD standards. Collect and record detailed data during testing procedures, ensuring accuracy and consistency for quality control documentation. Conduct visual inspections and assessments of materials on construction sites, including concrete forming and masonry work, to identify potential issues early. Analyze test results to determine material strength, durability, and suitability for specific construction applications. Support construction inspection activities by verifying that materials meet contractual requirements and quality standards. Maintain detailed records of test results, inspection reports, and laboratory data for project documentation and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and quality assurance personnel to resolve material-related issues promptly. Perform Calibrations and Verifications on Laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Applicable Certification(s) preferred but not required
  • ACI Compressive Strength ACI Concrete Aggregates ACI Aggregate Base LADOTD Authorized Aggregates Experience The ideal candidate has more than 3 years of experience and has performed construction material testing laboratory testing and equipment calibrations.
Proficiency with a computer, iPad and software such as Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel is required. Work exposure and experience to the followings categories of laboratory testing is highly favorable: Concrete Testing
  • Compressive strength, length measurement Soil Testing
  • soil classification, analysis of plasticity, particle size, and determining the maximum density of the material Aggregate Testing
  • sieve analysis, specific gravity, sand equivalent Asphalt Testing
  • Coring, Core analysis, gradations, burn-offs, specific gravity Physical requirements: Required to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
Typical Work Hours Expectations:
Preferrable standard hours 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm with lunch and breaks. Availability and willingness to work extra hours as necessary is preferred. Requirements Proven laboratory experience working with construction materials or related fields. Strong understanding of construction processes, including concrete forming, masonry techniques, and general site operations. Knowledge of quality control procedures and quality inspection standards within the construction industry. Excellent data collection skills with attention to detail for accurate recordkeeping and analysis. Ability to interpret technical specifications, contracts, and testing protocols effectively. Previous experience on construction sites or in construction inspection roles is highly desirable. Proficiency with a computer, iPad and software such as Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel Strong communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams and document findings clearly.
