About MCE Dirtworks MCE Dirtworks, Inc. is a Cape Cod-based heavy construction contractor specializing in septic systems, sewer installation, underground utilities, drainage infrastructure, excavation, and site development projects. We serve residential, commercial, municipal, and public-sector clients throughout Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts. We are seeking an experienced Septic & Sewer Construction Laborer to join our growing team. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have direct experience installing septic systems and sewer infrastructure and be comfortable working in active excavation environments around heavy equipment, trenches, and underground utilities. Duties and Responsibilities Assist with installation, repair, replacement, and rehabilitation of sewer and water utilities, water mains and water services infrastructure. Install septic tanks, pump chambers, distribution boxes, leaching systems, sewer mains, force mains, and related components. Perform pipe laying, bedding, backfilling, compaction, and site restoration activities. Assist with excavation, trenching, shoring, and dewatering operations. Help locate, expose, and protect existing underground utilities and infrastructure. Set structures including septic tanks, distribution boxes, manholes, catch basins, and related precast structures. Assist foremen and operators with grade checks, elevations, measurements, and utility installation activities. Work from plans, grade stakes, elevations, and directions provided by foremen and supervisors. Maintain safe, organized jobsites and accurate daily work logs. Required Qualifications Minimum 4 years of direct experience in septic system installation, sewer construction, or underground utility construction. Demonstrated experience with septic systems, sewer infrastructure, trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfilling, compaction, and site restoration. Ability to read and work from plans, grade stakes, elevations, and construction layouts. OSHA 10 Certification (required). Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (required). Strong understanding of excavation safety and trench safety requirements.
